Have you ever attended a shareholders meeting? How would you like to—as a representative of the Investor Suffrage Movement? How would you like to go through the process of submitting a shareholder proposal? Performing simple tasks like these is a wonderful, motivational experience for anyone interested in corporate governance or socially responsible investing.

The Investor Suffrage Movement is organizing a team of volunteers throughout the United States and internationally who will perform such shareholder-related activities on behalf of other shareholders and institutional investors. Called field agents, these volunteers will play a vital role in realizing the suffrage movement’s vision of implementing a Global Proxy Exchange. Shorter term, they will contribute significantly to the efforts of shareholder activism.

For example, a shareholder activist might be reluctant to file many shareholder proposals because of limited time or because she can’t afford to travel to distant shareholder meetings. We will put her in touch with field agents living near those meetings. They will file the proposals and present them at the annual meetings on her behalf.
