Long-term, the Global Proxy Exchange is going to do more than facilitate the presenting of shareholder proposals. It is going to enable shareholder activists to conveniently aggregate proxy rights from millions of investors around the world—proxy rights that will help ensure their proposals are approved. When that day comes—perhaps ten years from now—field agents will be more important than ever. Someone will have to show up at corporations’ shareholder meetings to exercise all those proxy rights on behalf of the shareholder activists. Our goal will be for two field agents to attend the shareholder meeting of every publically traded firm in the world.

Between today and that future of a fully functioning Global Proxy Exchange, many steps will have to be taken to implement and test an emerging proxy exchange. This is going to entail issues of technology, evolving exchange rules and a community of participants. Throughout this process, field agents will play a changing role, stepping in to help out in small (and sometimes large!) ways.

We are building this future today. To find out more, or to apply to become a field agent, contact us.
